Wedding

Oh! Mr (& Mrs.) D'Arcy!

A good friend got married at the weekend in Gnadenwald, near Innsbruck. I took my little Fuji XE1 and took a couple of snaps of the festivities and the rather fluid evening! Apologies for the later photos as the sensor in the XE1 isn't as good in low light and you tend to get a bit of noise (not to mention my slightly wobbly vision from the multitude of shots that were doing the rounds!).

Still a great celebration of friends, fun, happiness and love. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs D'Arcy.

A very British Affair

Finally,  I got to go to a wedding as a guest, something that has not happened in an age, mainly as I am photographing them, and that most of my friends are married! I was meant to be looking after the kids but one was a Paige-boy and the other was asleep 5 minutes in to the ceromony so I took the opportunity to whip out my Fujifilm XE1 and fire off a couple of snapshots.

As this is my travel camera it does take a nice shot in the right light, but it is not as good in the restricted lighting of a Gloucestershire church as my full frame Canon 6D, that I normally use at weddings.

But we are not here to pixel peep, just to share the love of a fantastic day with great friends, old and new.  Well done Sophie & Bart.

Monochrome Oktober Day 30

Each year I dedicate the month of Oktober (German Spelling, in case you were wondering) to the beautiful art of Black & White photography. Each day I will be posting a new Black & white image

I have a passion for this style of photograph, as it makes you concentrate more on the subject and really brings out the emotion of the image.

In the post processing phase, it is more than just removing the colour out of a picture but finding the right combination of tones and shades of grey that work within an image. With applications such as Photoshop you can change these mixtures to a great degree to give you more or less of those tones.

You can experiment with your photos as I am sure that your smartphone will have an editing section in it (both the iPhone Camera App and the Facebook App do this) and play around with the different settings.
