Cousins

Fasching came and went last week, and with it a stack of guests here in the Zillertal. We also received some welcome guests. The boys had a great time and were very sad that they had to go. On the last day I took one of the cameras (a proper one with lenses not just my trusty iphone!) to get some portraits of the kids. This is tricky at best when they are yooming about and you are trying to manually focus, compose and adjust manual settings, but I think that I got some good ones.

Cloudy Mountains

Sunday comes round again and we went up the mountain even though it was raining in the village. It started off with a blizzard and near total whiteout but slowly the clouds started to clear and we had a wonderful lunch with some amazing views up at the Gschosswandhaus.

Monochrome Oktober Day 6

Each year I dedicate the month of Oktober (German Spelling, in case you were wondering) to the beautiful art of Black & White photography. Each day I will be posting a new Black & white image

I have a passion for this style of photograph, as it makes you concentrate more on the subject and really brings out the emotion of the image.

In the post processing phase, it is more than just removing the colour out of a picture but finding the right combination of tones and shades of grey that work within an image. With applications such as Photoshop you can change these mixtures to a great degree to give you more or less of those tones.

You can experiment with your photos as I am sure that your smartphone will have an editing section in it (both the iPhone Camera App and the Facebook App do this) and play around with the different settings.

Share your images with everyone by posting them to my facebook page

Penkenbahn Mayrhofen

I was recently commissioned to shoot the new Penkenbahn main station for a client. It is a great looking building and I can honestly say that I have to date not seen a queue of more than 5 minutes up or down (even in high season ona Sunday!) So form and functionality work.

Behind the scenes

Found this shot when I was clearing out my old iPhone. A behind the scenes shot from when I shot my first timelapse video 'Sunrise' last November up at the construction site of the new Penekenbahn, Mayrhofen. Kit in use a canon 6D with a Manfrotto 055 tripod.

The full video can be seen here.

Winter in Mayrhofen

Well, life has been hectic since the Christmas period and I am finally starting to settle down into a routine balancing family life with my Photography habit, as well as enjoying the winter season!

I thought that I would share a couple of shots of what we have been up to so far and I am sure there will be more to come as well as a video project that I am working on from this winter.
