snapshots of the summer
Well as Autumn progresses, I slowly get through my summer photos from my phone! The problem with having these things in our pockets that can take such good pictures and with such huge storage capacity is that you can have thousands of pictures on them and be overwhelmed by just the thought of sorting them out let alone actually doing it!
I have a process in lightroom, regardless of the classic, web, or mobile platform and that is when i get 5 minutes to my self (sometimes a rarity but it does happen!) I go through the photos from that month and just do a selection with a flag pick (use whatever your phone has) then you can come back when you have more time and do the real post production. I follow the same procedure with my professional workflow, first select the keepers then come back after 24 hours or so and have another look at them with fresh eyes. you will see mistakes and possibly better images from that break. I do the same at the end after the post work just to make sure I haven’t had ‘tunnel vision’ on them. This is a skill that I owe to my wife who taught it to me, and also remains my best critic. All professional photos go through her to get a different perspective on them, something I might have overlooked or how a bride would view the images.
Everyone’s workflow is different and you will, with time, find yours. Watch other photographers and take what works best for you. You will find a balance.
PS.You might see in these images that when we went to Legoland, it was empty, well rain makes for great days at a theme park (when they are open!). We went on every single ride in one day. Just take a change of clothes with you for the drive home!
