Monochrome Oktober-day 31
And so Oktober draws to a close, and I thought that I would mix it up a bit with a photo that everyone should try, a self portrait.
when I say a self portrait I don’t mean a ‘selfie’ there is a definite difference. A selfie is a picture of yourself with the front facing camera on your phone where as a self portrait is a composed photo of you, and it should say who you are. The photo can be taken by someone else or by you but you should compose the idea of what you want to see that represents who you are, whether it is just an expression or an entire scene that represents who you are.
Mine was shot in my washing room in the basement of my house, with a Elinchrom light and a reflector and a complex connection between my phone and a canon 6d. It took about 100 shots to get the ones that I wanted and is a different process to what I am used to, but I think that I have learned a lot and grown as a photographer. Hopefully I can translate that to use with my clients and make better photos for them.
i strongly advise everyone to give it a go and not just shoot a selfie but try to mal a Statement ‘this is who I am!’
