the new normal.........?

Well times have definitely changed. It seems like only yesterday that we were all up on the mountain enjoying the start of spring in the snow. That was just 2 weeks ago!

In that time we have encountered a new way of life. It is one of the great abilities of humans that we are able to adapt nearly seamlessly to our surroundings, to improvise, to use our imaginations to cope with our situations, whether they be good or bad.

Life often throws curve-balls at us, and how we deal with them shows both ourselves, and those around us who we really are. I heard a great comment from a former US Navy SEAL about his training (which is formidable for all who enter in to it) and he said that you should “make your world small” or concentrate on the things that you can change, not to worry or obsess about the things that you cant, these things will eventually overwhelm you and stop you from thinking objectively (something that we should all be doing in times like this).

For us we have put routines in place that keep all of our minds and bodies active. One of these is our daily walk which we are allowed. Getting out, but still adhering to the governments guidelines on social distancing, is very important to your physical and mental health, especially if you re like us and have little ones to consider (the boys need a walk!). Keeping busy will also restrict your time on Social and the regular media, which can be psychologically damaging. Keep your world small to what you can effect.

I don’t claim to know what will help everyone get through this situation but I know what is helping me and my family and maybe it will help you. If anyone has any ideas that they would like to share them please leave a comment below.

PS. don’t forget to keep clam and put the kettle on!
