Ohne wie ein gebrochener Rekord zu klingen (für diejenigen, die sich daran erinnern, was ein Rekord ist!), spielt das Wetter eine entscheidende Rolle im Leben in den Bergen und damit auch bei Hochzeiten, die in diesen Bergen stattfinden.

Es braucht eine bestimmte Art von Person, die eine abenteuerliche Ader in sich hat, um in den Bergen zu sein, geschweige denn dort zu heiraten. Um einen der wichtigsten und besonderen Tage in Ihrem Leben zu haben, und gehen Sie ein Risiko mit dem Wetter ein, bei dem das Wetter alles andere als vorhersehbar genannt werden kann!

Romana und Marcel sind solche Menschen und haben eine Liebesbeziehung zu den Bergen. Sie sind bereit, diese Chance zu nutzen und sind gemeinsam mit ihrer engsten Familie von Nordrhein-Westfalen nach Tirol gereist.

Die standesamtliche Trauung fand im Standesamt in der MarktGemiende Mayrhofen statt, und nach einer kurzen Darbietung des Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarsches, einem traditionellen Hochzeitstanz, den jeder nach der Hochzeit machen muss (und ja, ich habe es an meinem Hochzeitstag auch getan - wir mussten schließen eine Straße, um es zu tun, da dort ungefähr 30 Paare herumwirbelten, aber das ist eine Geschichte für einen anderen Tag!) nahmen wir die kurze Fahrt durch das Dorf Brandberg zum Berggasthaus Steinerkogel für die Porträt- und Gruppenfotosession.

Wie Sie auf den Fotos sehen können, war das Wetter bewölkt, aber das war zu unseren Gunsten. Ich bin mir sicher, dass ich bereits erwähnt habe, wie verschiedene Lichtquellen verschiedene Arten von Schatten erzeugen, und wenn Sie Wolken haben, die das Licht streuen, entsteht dieses schöne Licht, das einfach alles umhüllt und diesen atemberaubenden abgestuften Schatten erzeugt, der für das Auge nur subtil ist.

Ich weiß, dass jeder an seinem Hochzeitstag einen blauen Himmel und Sonne möchte, aber die Realität ist, dass es heiß ist und die meisten Paare keine Shorts und T-Shirts tragen! Die Temperatur war etwas kühler, als sie zu dieser Jahreszeit im späten Frühling hätte sein können, aber nicht unangenehm und so perfekt für Ramona und Marcel, die beide in Tracht gekleidet waren.

Einer der Vorteile dieser Jahreszeit ist, dass die Felder wachsen und ihnen diesen klassischen „Almwiesen“-Look verleihen, den wir in den Porträts voll ausgenutzt haben, sowie eine alte Hütte für die Gruppenfotos.

A wedding in the meadow - the wedding of Romana & Marcel at berggasthaus Steinerkogel

Without sounding like a broken record (for those who remember what a record is!)the weather plays a pivotal roll in life in the mountains, and by very association, weddings that take place in those said mountains.

It takes a certain type of person, who has an adventurous streak in them to be in the mountains, let alone marry in them. To have one of the most important and special days in your lives, and take a chance with the weather where the weather can be called anything but predictable!

Romana and Marcel are such people, and have a love affair with the mountains. It was a chance that they are willing to take, and they along with they’re closest family made the trip from Nordrhein-Westfalen to the Tirol.

The Civil ceremony was held in the Standesamt in the MarktGemiende Mayrhofen, and after a quick rendition of the Zillertaler Hochzeitsmarch, a traditional wedding dance that everyone must do after marrying (and yes I did it too on my wedding day - we had to close off a street to do it as there were 30 or so couples flailing about, but that is a story for another day!) we took the short drive through the village of Brandberg to the Mountain Gasthaus Steinerkogel for the portrait and Group photo session.

As you can see from the photos the weather was overcast, but that worked in our favour. I am sure that I have mentioned before about how various light sources create different types of shadows and when you have clouds diffusing the light it creates this beautiful light that just envelops everything and gives this stunning graduated shadow that is there but subtle to the eye.

I know that everyone wants a blue sky and sun on their wedding day but the reality is that it is hot and most couples are not in shorts and t-shirts! The temperature was a but cooler than it could have been at this time if the year in late spring, but not uncomfortably so, and so perfect for Ramona and Marcel who were dressed both in Tracht.

One of the advantages of this time of year is that the fields are growing, and give that classical ‘alpine meadow’ look to them, so we made full use of that in the portraits, as well as an old hut for the group photos.
